Amongst a host of causes is the gradual but progressive loss of important hormones, together with many other bodily changes. Some evidence also suggests that a vitamin A deficiency may play an important part in skin ageing because some changes in the skin can also be reversed by using vitamin A topically.

Of course smoking, too much alcohol or sun exposure and too little sleep or water consumption all makes us age faster. But in simple terms our skin ages because our DNA gets old and in sunny areas this ageing is aggravated by light, especially ultra violet.

Fortunately, we can do something about this: adding vitamin A in rich doses to our diet helps our skin to preserve the chromosomes that carry the DNA and can keep our cells younger!
