The 3 essentials:
I only started running 2 years ago with http://www.parkrun.com/home in Richmond Park. Each Saturday hundreds of people meet up and run a timed 5k and each week the aim is to improve your time. I was hooked.
I then signed up for a 10k London Bupa run http://www.london10000.co.uk/ followed by a 10 mile and then half marathon. I decided then that I was going to go for the big one!
I trained for 9 months over a very, very cold winter, often sub zero temperatures, but so glad I dragged myself out of bed on those dark, freezing days, as I don’t think you can even contemplate a marathon without the proper preparation.
Now I have completed it I can confidently say that you need 3 things to get you through a challenge like the Marathon…..
1. Strong legs
2. Strong lungs
3. Strong mind
So any training that helps enhance these 3 assets will get you to the finish! Hark at me the expert!
