Towers Hotel Spa Review

What a disappointment!

You will see from my blogs that I have never thus far written a negative post, so it is with a great sense of disappointment that I write this review on a Spa in my home town of Swansea.

After a particularly stressful period for the whole family I booked my sister and myself into The Towers Hotel Spa in Swansea for a relaxing Spa Day. After a visit to St Bride’s Hotel & Spa in Saundersfoot earlier in the year, we felt a similar experience would do us good.

The website promises the following, so how could we resist:

The Spa facility provides a sophisticated and relaxing retreat, where emphasis is very much on recovering well-being to the mind, body and soul, using only the finest products. The Spa menu offers a vast range of specialist therapies and treatments, implemented by the highly trained and highly skilled therapists.

Reviews on Tripadvisor were also very positive, so we booked with confidence.

To say that our experience was anything but relaxing would be an understatement. From the ripped and dirty towelling robes, the grubby lockers and changing room, only one ladies loo, freezing cold pool and signs gone rusty around the edges……and that was just the beginning.

Our two treatments were 25 mins each – a facial and a neck, shoulder and back massage – and both therapists allowed us 20 mins to get changed and ready (we were already in our robes, which literally took seconds to remove), which reduced our treatment time down to 30 minutes instead of 50. The room was very grubby and the hot cabine was stained badly, making it look dirty.

I flagged all of this up immediately, as it would be too late once the day was over. I was promised the senior therapist would sort something out but we never saw her.

After lunch, which I honestly say was fine, we decided we’d had enough, but not without seeing the Manager…..Tracy, who it turns out is the owner. She admitted it was unacceptable and said she would get someone to contact me the following Tuesday once she had time to check it all out. It was Saturday and it is a popular wedding venue so I said absolutely fine.

I have been offered a return visit when they have upgraded the Spa and refurbished the pool area. I will take them up on their offer and post a further review following my second visit.

I really hope they improve it!
