Is gold the new wonder ingredient? | London Beauty Insider

I was recently asked by the London Beauty Insider if Gold really was one of the new Wonder Ingredients.

They wrote:

Gold is next on the agenda, and one that immediately results in an eye roll. Gold, really? But actually, if you look a little closer into its history, it’s an ingredient that has been used for centuries. Kim Davies, Global Spa Director at Omorvicza talks us through its benefits.

Is the use of gold in skincare a new thing?

“No, the healing powers of gold have been known to us for centuries. The Egyptians used gold for all manner of physical, mental and spiritual concerns, and the Romans used it to cure skin complaints such as lesions and sores. It is also believed that Cleopatra used it to enhance and add radiance to her complexion”.

What are its benefits?

“We use it to rejuvenate skin, reduce inflammation, inhibiting the breakdown of collagen and elastin and reduce wrinkles”.

Which types of products should we look for it within, and how is it best applied?

“It is best used in serums, day and night, as the ingredients are more easily absorbed this way. You can also use it in a moisturiser or mask for added radiance beneath a foundation”.

Cat reviews Omorovicza’s Gold Flash Firming Serum

I must admit that gold has never been an ingredient I would ordinarily look for in a beauty product. It seems perhaps a little gimmicky – like something a brand would bring out at Christmas to make a product seem more magical and luxurious? But, having tried Omorovicza’s Gold Flash Firming Serum, I would retract my words. I love it! Give me gold, gold and more gold!
